- The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands recently honored Lake Highlands High School students Garrett Wingfield, Nena Rubin, Monica Burke and Brandon Mason for their outstanding character.
U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling has nominated three Lake Highlands High School students to attend U.S. military service academies. Elliot Martin Bucki received a nomination to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Samantha Nicole Couch and Lauren Elizabeth Wehrmann received nominations to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Candidates who want to attend a military service academy undergo a rigorous selection process, and they must be nominated by a member of Congress; the U.S. vice president; or the Department of Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps.
