IB, academies to be discussed at Woodrow Wilson open house
If you'll be a ninth-grader next fall in the Woodrow Wilson High School attendance district, or if you're a 9th grader anywhere in DISD for that matter, consider attending the school's "Welcome to Woodrow" open house Tuesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6:30 at the school. The main topic of discussion: Woodrow's new college preparatory academies, which will be implemented in Fall 2010.
All freshmen attending the school will be required to opt into one of four academies — Math, Science and Technology; Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship; Performing Arts; and the much-discussed International Baccalaureate program. (Woodrow is currently a candidate to offer the IB program, pending approval of the IB people.)
Once neighborhood students have been accommodated at Woodrow, 9th graders anywhere in DISD can apply to attend the school. Also being showed off at the event are various clubs and organizations available to students. For more information, call 972-502-4419.
